Colchester is one of just 18 towns and cities in England to be awarded Cycling Town status. £2.1m of funding has been awarded from Cycling England which has been match funded by Essex County Council to promote and encourage cycling, and to develop a comprehensive cycle network in the town over the three years up to March 2011.

The Colchester Cycle Challenge has been made possible, thanks to funding and support from Cycle Colchester, CTC Cycle Champions and Essex County Council’s Sustainable Business Travel team and is being delivered by CTC Challenge for Change.

Cycle Colchester recognises the important role cycling can play in helping to reduce congestion and pollution and enabling people to explore sustainable and alternative transport options. Check out the Cycle Colchester website for more information about cycling.
